Building Permit Application Required Documentation
A complete permit application must be submitted before review can begin. Incomplete applications may be delayed or denied until all required information is received.
Required Submittals
Submit the building permit application along with supporting construction documents sufficient to show the location, nature, and extent of the proposed work and to demonstrate compliance with the applicable New York State Uniform Code and Energy Code.
Unless otherwise approved by the Code Enforcement Officer, applications should include the following, as applicable to the project:

Site plan showing property lines, setbacks, easements, existing structures, and proposed work

Construction plans drawn to scale

Floor plans
-
Exterior elevations
-
Building sections and construction details
-
Foundation and footing details
-
Framing information, including member sizes, spans, species/grade where applicable, and connection details

Roof framing and roof covering information
-
Door and window sizes and locations
-
Energy code compliance documentation
-
Plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC information, where applicable
-
Manufacturer specifications and installation instructions, where applicable
-
Truss drawings and engineered lumber specifications, where applicable
-
Existing and proposed use of spaces/rooms
-
Identification of all bedrooms, bathrooms, habitable rooms, utility rooms, and similar spaces
-
Smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm locations, where required
-
Septic, well, driveway, stormwater, and other outside-agency approvals, where applicable
-
Photos of existing conditions for alteration, repair, or addition projects, when requested
-
Any other information required by the Code Enforcement Officer to determine code compliance
Design Professional Requirements
Projects that are required by New York State law & Town Of Prattsburgh CEO are to be prepared by a registered design professional shall be submitted with signed and sealed drawings and documents.
The Town may also require additional documentation, specifications, details, or professional design where necessary to verify compliance.
Important Notes
Construction documents must be complete enough for the Town to determine compliance before a permit can be issued.
Applications that do not include sufficient information will not be accepted as complete and may result in delays in permit issuance.
Do not begin work until a permit has been issued.
Contractor liability insurance and workers’ compensation/disability coverage must be on file before permit issuance where required.
